By the way... 5 years ago, I never thought I'd be in a position where I was placing a job ad to fill a vacancy on my first team.
Although I hoped I would be in a successful business, providing a unique service which people are not just delighted with, but are astounded by and in awe of my workmanship.
I left my well paid and stable job in the building industry 5 years ago and told my peers that I was starting a new business doing something that no-one had really done before. Justifiably, I got some sympathetic and raised eyebrow looks... I left anyway.
In this first year of the Global Financial Crisis, we have had our busiest year to date. That is where you may be the one who can assist me.
I operate a Stone Effects (Faux Stone) Company in Perth, Western Australia. I am 40 years old (the new 30) and although I have written this ad in a slightly different way, you can be sure my team and I take our business very seriously and we get the best results for our clients every time.
My team consists of 5 motivated and dedicated people who manage to create beautiful features which enhance homes, buildings and public spaces... and they're damn good at what they do!

Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for preparing areas of our work.
- You will be responsible for applying our product (Training Given)
- You will be responsible for finishing our product in many unique designs (Training Given)
- You will be responsible for meticulous final clean-up of surrounding areas of our work.
Education and qualifications mean very little to me. I didn't complete any trade and I taught myself in most of these processes. I have worked in many different trades. So I don't care to much about trade qualifications, but I respect anyone who has done one and survived.
- I do expect you to be confident in making decisions quickly, knowing that you WILL make mistakes, (as we all do and the world still turns). As long as you learn from your mistakes and view them as an opportunity to grow... Intelligent Mistakes.
- You must be fit
- Enjoy working outdoors in all the elements
- Having some Trowel Skills would be beneficial
- Background in various trade is an advantage, but not necessary
- You must have the desire to always be improving and aspire to be the best in your field.

Plasterer
Responsibilities
- Complete all jobs to schedule.
- Ensure a maintained, neat and tidy job site at all times during the construction process and at the end of the job process.
- Minimize/eliminate rework.
- Maximize productivity & efficiency of the Production Teams.
- Ensure that preparation and clean up to be done to a high standard.
All of the above is achieved by:
- Maintain communication with Production Manager in relation to job schedules.
- Ensuring all materials and relevant tools are on site at all times and on time.
Principle Duties
- To mix sand, cement, lime and water to a render consistency.
- Apply to an interior or exterior surface with a hawk and trowel.
- Smooth that surface to a certain thickness.
- Fix straight edges to corners.
- Create patterns using jointing tools and spirit levels to simulate stone work.
- Apply sealant, waterproofing or similar materials if required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in the application of solid plastering principals.
- Current drivers licence.
- Construction Safety Awareness Training Card.

- Well developed communication skills.
- Ability to establish good rapport with staff and contractors.
- Ability to operate in a team and provide high levels of customer satisfaction.
